Tea Leaves

Unfold:

release the chaos

that controls a mind

in cups of tea:

laden with peace

and one liners-

leaves that

hint

of future ventures

fortunes way of

communicating

to the unenlightened

look and see

ask and receive

questions

laced as sugarcubed

answers

stirred not shaken

with stained hands

shaking

on resolutions reflections:

why do dreams

scare

beyond belief?

Spot the Difference

School children spill across

empty concrete

a sea of green pinstripes

spotted with the occasional

‘wicket’ hat-

the branding or an education

learnt privately,

sprinkled with religious spice

(and all things nice)

from the cheque book of daddy;

whilst faded pine coloured tartan skirts

are rolled above the knee

and dirty adam’s apples bulge

blackened by a game of league-

individuality expressed through

multicoloured badges, backpacks,

which may equal personality

repressed by monochrome stockings

and hairpinned fringes

with padded blazers

inscribed with latin phrases.

Vertigo

Vertigo:
no time or place
peace in unknown depths
higher than the seagull flies
one with the horizon
at dizzying heights
capture eternity
through manufactured lenses
clouds stirring
misty surface
simmering
wildflowers
taking the plunge
knitting sandstone cliffs
together through
roots embedded in time
as the sea whispers below
calling
souls answer
some fly, or fall
down past city sight lines
into an abyss of sea.

Sojourn

Why are you to be
the cynosure
of my daydreams?
I am caught
in the act
of dalliance:
watch me tumble, turn and twist
acrobatic delights, performed;
audience delights, applause
emotional turmoil in
a
three-ringed-circus,
attempts to tame the lion
(fail)
clowns joyously frown
at my delusional responsiveness
at the primitive consciousness
of the ringmaster's reign,
he'll pull you close
then release you
(again)
he'll twirl you round
disorientating truth and lies
beneath stage lights
and a makeshift-bigtop-tent:
show's over kids,
time for bed.
